Berg am Irchel is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It's found in the Andelfingen area, which is part of the Zürich region (or canton).

History of Berg am Irchel
The first time Berg am Irchel was written about was around the year 1100. Back then, it was called Berga. Later, in 1243, its name changed slightly to Berge.
Geography and Landscape
Berg am Irchel covers an area of about 7.1 square kilometers (2.7 square miles). A large part of this land, nearly half (48.2%), is used for farming. Another big part (44.8%) is covered by forests.
About 5.7% of the land has buildings or roads. The remaining small portion (1.3%) includes natural features like rivers or mountains.
The town is built on a flat area on the northern side of the Irchel mountain. It includes the main village of Berg and a place called Gräslikon. Gräslikon used to be part of a different town, Buch am Irchel, but it joined Berg in 1855. Some other areas, like Oberdorf, Schloss Schollenberg, and Ziegelhütte, left Berg am Irchel between 1619 and 1788 to join the nearby town of Flaach.

Berg am Irchel has a population of 595 people (as of 31 December 2020). In 2007, about 3.8% of the people living here were from other countries. Over the past ten years, the number of people living in Berg am Irchel has grown by about 4.3%.
Most people in Berg am Irchel speak German (95.3%). English is the second most common language (1.0%), followed by Albanian (1.0%).
