Buch am Irchel is a small town, also called a municipality, located in Switzerland. It is part of the Andelfingen district in the canton of Zürich.

The first time Buch am Irchel was written about in official records was around the year 1238. Back then, it was called Buoch. A few years later, in 1244, another part of the area was mentioned as Bebinchon. This shows that the area has been settled for a very long time!

Geography and Nature

Buch am Irchel covers an area of about 10.2 square kilometers (about 4 square miles). A big part of this land, about 56%, is used for farming. This means you'll see lots of fields and farms around.

Another large portion, about 38%, is covered by forests. The rest of the land, about 6%, has buildings and roads. The town is located on the north-east side of the Irchel hill.

The municipality of Buch am Irchel includes several smaller areas. These are Oberbuch, Unterbuch, Wiler, Bebikon, Desibach, and Oberhueb. In 1855, a village called Gräslikon became part of a nearby town, Berg am Irchel.
