Bern Nadette Stanis is an American actress and author. She was born Bernadette Stanislaus on December 22, 1953. She is most famous for playing Thelma Evans on the TV show Good Times. This popular show was a sitcom that aired from 1974 to 1979. Bern Nadette Stanis has also written four books. These books include Situations 101: Relationships, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, For Men Only, Situations 101: Finances, and The Last Night.

Early Life and Education
Bern Nadette Stanis grew up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York City. She was one of five children in her family. Her grandparents on her father's side came from Carriacou in the Grenadine Islands.
She went to Erasmus Hall High School. Later, she studied at the famous Juilliard School. When she was a teenager, Stanis took part in beauty pageants. She won the title of Miss Brooklyn. After that, she was the first runner-up in the Miss New York state pageant.
Acting Career Highlights
Bern Nadette Stanis became well-known for her role as Thelma Ann Evans. She played this character on the CBS sitcom Good Times. The show ran from February 1974 to August 1979.
After Good Times ended, she appeared on other TV shows. These included The Cosby Show and What's Happening Now!!. She also did voice work for commercials. For example, she and her Good Times co-star Jimmie Walker did a radio ad for AT&T. Stanis also appeared in a commercial for Nationwide Insurance.
Stanis has been featured on the TV One network. In 2009, she was part of a "Thelma" promotion. This promotion showed her TV wedding from Good Times. She was alongside actress Anna Maria Horsford, who played "Thelma Frye" on the show Amen. In February 2010, she and Jimmie Walker appeared on a show called Color TV. Personal Life
Bern Nadette Stanis has been married four times. Her first marriage was to her high-school boyfriend, Thomas Fauntleroy. They were married from June 1974 to 1978. In January 1979, she married Darnell Johnson, who owned a nightclub in Brooklyn.
Her third marriage was to Terrence Redd, a mechanical engineer. They had a daughter named Dior Ravel around April 1982. They later divorced. Her fourth husband is Kevin Fontana. Bern Nadette Stanis also has another daughter named Brittany Rose. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her children.
