Bernard Fox (born Bernard Lawson, May 11, 1927 – December 14, 2016) was a Welsh actor. He was known for his roles in many TV shows and movies. He acted for almost 50 years! You might remember him as Dr. Bombay from Bewitched or Captain Critterton from Hogan's Heroes. He was also in the famous movie Titanic.
Early Life and Acting
Bernard Fox was born in Port Talbot, Wales on May 11, 1927. He started acting when he was very, very young – just 18 months old! His TV career began in 1955.
He became famous for playing Dr. Bombay, a funny witch doctor, in the TV show Bewitched. He also played Captain Critterton in Hogan's Heroes. Later, he appeared in many movies. One of his most well-known movie roles was playing Archibald Gracie IV in James Cameron's Titanic (1997). His last movie was Surge of Power: The Stuff of Heroes in 2004. Bernard's uncle, Wilfrid Lawson, was also a well-known actor.
His Family
Bernard Fox was married to Jacqueline Fox. They got married in 1961 and stayed together until he passed away in 2016. They had two children. Bernard Fox died in a hospital in Van Nuys, California on December 14, 2016. He was 89 years old.
