Berriatua is a small town and municipality in the north of Spain. It is located in the province of Biscay. This area is part of the Basque Country, which is an autonomous community in Spain.
Berriatua has several neighbors. To the north, you'll find Ondarroa and the Bay of Biscay. To the south, it borders Markina-Xemein. On the east side is Mutriku, and to the west are Amoroto and Mendexa.
For a long time, Berriatua was mostly a farming town. There wasn't much industry there. However, in recent years, the town has grown a lot. New industries have started, and many new buildings have been constructed.
People from Berriatua
Many interesting people have come from Berriatua. Here are a couple of them:
- Xabi Garalde (born in 1988) is a Spanish footballer. He is known for playing soccer.
- Jagoba Arrasate (born in 1978) is a Basque football coach. He used to be a player himself.
