History of Berry
The town of Berry was named after a local landowner, Thompson Berry. It officially became a town in 1883, and back then, it was called "Berry Station." The first local elections were held in 1899.
Later, in the 1920s, the town decided to shorten its name to just Berry. On April 27, 2011, the town experienced two tornadoes. Despite this, the community worked together to recover.
Where is Berry Located?
Berry is found in the southeastern part of Fayette County. It sits between two waterways: the North River and a smaller stream called Cedar Creek. These waters are part of the larger Black Warrior River system.
Alabama State Route 18 runs right through Berry. This road connects Berry to other towns. If you go west, you'll reach Fayette, which is the main town of the county. If you head east, you'll get to Oakman.
