Oakman is a small town located in Walker County, Alabama, in the United States. In 2020, about 771 people lived there. This was a slight decrease from 789 people in 2010. The town was first called Day (or Day's) Gap. It changed its name to Oakman and became an official town in 1895.

Oakman first appeared on the U.S. census in 1890. Back then, it was known as Day (or Day's) Gap. The name changed to Oakman in 1894, and it has been called Oakman ever since.

Football Achievements
In 2003, the Wildcats' varsity football team was very successful. They won the 2A Region 4 Championship. They also had a perfect record during the regular season. They made it to the second round of the State Playoffs. In 2005, they reached the first round of the State Playoffs again.
A notable moment was in 1983. The Wildcats' 1A varsity football team beat Oakgrove, who were the 2A state champions that year.
Softball Achievements
In 2007, the Girls Softball Team from Oakman High School won the 2A State Championship!
