About Berry Brook

The Berry Brook is an important part of the local landscape. It helps drain water from the land and flows into the larger River Thames. Streams like Berry Brook are home to many different plants and animals.

Where Does It Flow?

The Berry Brook starts near the Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake. This lake is a special place used for rowing competitions. From there, the stream flows towards the northeast. It runs alongside the A4155 Henley Road, which is a main road leading out of Caversham, near Reading.

The stream then goes under the B478 Playhatch Road, close to a village called Playhatch. It also flows past the Sonning Works, which is a factory owned by a company called Lafarge. Further along, the Berry Brook passes under Spring Lane, right by a pub called the Flowing Spring public house.

Finally, the stream flows through farmland that belongs to the Phillimore estate. It then joins the River Thames at a spot called Hallsmead Ait, which is just south of Shiplake.

What's Nearby?

Close to where the Berry Brook begins, you'll find the Thames and Kennet Marina. This is a place where boats are kept and repaired. A business called Berry Brook Boats is located right there at the marina.
