A Look Back: Berryton's History
How Berryton Started
Berryton was founded a long time ago, in 1888. It was named after its two founders, George Washington Berry and his son, George Webster Berry. The very first post office in Berryton opened in May 1888.
Berryton in the Early 1900s
By 1912, Berryton was known as a small village. It had a train station on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. This made it a good place for people in the area to trade goods. In 1910, about 75 people lived there.

Today, Berryton still has a post office. It also has an elementary school, a place for events, and two churches.

Berryton High School's Past
There used to be a Berryton High School. It closed down when schools were combined into larger districts. The Berryton Buffaloes, their baseball team, won the state championship in 1951. This was a big achievement for the school!
