The Besiberri Massif (which means "Massif of Besiberri" in Catalan) is a group of impressive mountains in the central part of the Pyrenees. You can find it in Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. This mountain range sits right on the western edge of the beautiful Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
Many of the main peaks in the Besiberri Massif are known as "three-thousanders." This means they are over 3,000 metres (about 9,842 feet) high! The very highest point is a peak called Comaloforno, which stands tall at 3,029 metres above sea level. Other important peaks in this massif include Besiberri Sud (3,024 m), Besiberri Nord (3,008 m), Besiberri del Mig (2,995 m), and Punta Senyalada (2,952 m).

Exploring the Besiberri Massif

First Climbers of Besiberri
The first recorded climb of a major peak in the Besiberri Massif was on August 7, 1899. A team of climbers named Nils de Barck, Marcel and Henri Spont, and J.M. Sansuc successfully reached one of the summits. This was a big achievement back then, as climbing gear and knowledge were not as advanced as they are today.
