Beslen Island is a small, rocky piece of land located near the bottom of the world, in a very cold place called the South Shetland Islands. It's off the northwest tip of a larger island known as Low Island. This island isn't very big; it stretches about 240 meters (that's like two and a half football fields) from east to west and is about 90 meters wide. No one lives on Beslen Island, as it's part of the icy Antarctica region.
Where is Beslen Island Located?
Beslen Island is found at specific coordinates: 63 degrees, 13 minutes, 18 seconds South, and 62 degrees, 10 minutes, 57 seconds West (63°13′18″S 62°10′57″W / 63.22167°S 62.18250°W). To help you picture it, the island is about 1.67 kilometers northeast of a place called Cape Wallace. It's also about 840 meters north of Prisad Island. How Beslen Island Got Its Name
This island is named after a town called Beslen in Southwestern Bulgaria. Many places in the Antarctic region are named by different countries to honor their history, geography, or important people.
