Bethune has access with Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 24.

The city with the highest population in the area is Burlington, with a population of 5,468. Burlington is the county seat of Kit Carson County.

From the census of 2000, there were 225 people, 74 households, and 58 families residing in Bethune. The population density was 1,476.8 people per square mile (579.2/km2). There were 81 housing units at an average density of 531.7 per square mile (208.5/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 73.78% White, 0.89% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 23.56% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 31.11% of the population.

There were 74 households, out of which 48.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.2% were married couples living together, 8.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.6% were non-families. 20.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.04 and the average family size was 3.50.

In the town, the population was spread out, with 35.6% under the age of 18, 11.6% from 18 to 24, 28.0% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 7.6% who were 65 years of age or older.
