Beverley Jane McEwan (born 28 March 1957), known professionally as Beverley Callard, is an English actress. She is famous for playing Liz McDonald in the popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street. She was on the show for many years, from 1989 to 2020. Beverley also played Flo Henshaw in the TV show Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

About Her Acting Career
Beverley Callard started acting when she was just seven years old. Her first role was as a page boy named Darius. After finishing school in 1973, she worked as a typist for a while.
Later, she decided to become a full-time actress. She performed in plays like Hay Fever and Billy Liar. She also played the Wicked Queen in Snow White.
In 1983, Beverley made her first TV appearance in the soap opera Emmerdale Farm. She played a character named Angie Richards. She also appeared in other TV shows like Hells Bells and The Practice.
Beverley has also released fitness books and exercise videos. She shared fitness tips on TV shows like GMTV and This Morning. She even had a fitness page in the Daily Mirror newspaper.
In 2000, she was in the BBC comedy show The Peter Principle. From 2001 to 2003, Beverley played Flo Henshaw in the BBC Three sitcom Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. She also appeared on Sky1's Mile High. For a few months in 2010, she was a guest on the talk show Loose Women.
In 2011, she was supposed to play the Wicked Queen in the pantomime Sleeping Beauty. However, she had to leave the show for health reasons. In 2012, she returned to the stage in a play called The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. In 2019, she performed in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
In November 2020, Beverley joined the TV show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. She was one of the contestants living in a castle. She was the third celebrity to leave the show.
Since 2022, Beverley has appeared in the comedy show Newark, Newark as Pauline. In 2023, she took part in the Channel 4 series Don't Look Down. This show helped raise money for Stand Up to Cancer.
Her Time on Coronation Street
Beverley Callard first appeared on Coronation Street in 1984. She played June Dewhurst, a friend of Gail and Brian Tilsley. In 1989, she came back to the show in a much bigger role. She started playing Liz McDonald.
Liz McDonald became a very well-known character. Beverley left Coronation Street in 1998 to focus on her fitness career and spend time with her family. She returned to the show in 2003. She left again in 2011 but came back in 2013.
In 2016, Beverley took a two-month break from the show. She returned to filming in May 2016. In November 2019, she announced she would be leaving Coronation Street for good. Her final scenes aired in 2020.
Her Life Outside Acting
Beverley Callard got married for the first time in 1974 to Paul Atkinson. They had a daughter named Rebecca Callard, who also became an actress. They later divorced.
In 1980, Beverley married David Sowden. They separated in 1988. In 1989, she married Steve Callard, and they had a son named Joshua in 1990. They later divorced.
In 2008, Beverley's pay, along with other Coronation Street actors, was reduced. She lost a part of her earnings.
Beverley Callard lives with her fourth husband, Jon McEwan. They got married on 30 October 2010. In 2022, they moved to Norfolk.
