Beyti is a super tasty Turkish dish! It's usually made with ground beef or lamb. This meat is grilled on a long stick called a skewer. After it's cooked, it gets wrapped in a flatbread called lavash. To make it even more delicious, it's topped with a yummy tomato sauce and creamy yogurt.
The Story Behind Beyti
This special dish is named after a real person: Beyti Güler. He was the owner of a very famous restaurant in Istanbul, also called Beyti. He was a very creative chef!
In 1961, Beyti Güler visited Switzerland. There, he saw how a butcher named Möller prepared meat. This gave him a brilliant idea! He decided to create his own unique dish. His original Beyti was made with tender lamb fillets. These fillets were wrapped in thin strips of lamb fat and then grilled to perfection.
Today, you might find a dish called Beyti sold as street food. This version is usually made with ground meat. It's important to know that this street food version is a bit different from Beyti Güler's original, fancy recipe!
