Bibi Besch (born Bibiana Maria Köchert; February 1, 1942 – September 7, 1996) was an actress from Austria and America. She was famous for playing Dr. Carol Marcus in the science fiction movie Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982). She also had important roles in films like Who's That Girl (1987), Steel Magnolias (1989), and Tremors (1990). Bibi Besch appeared in many TV shows and movies, and she was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards.

Early Life and Family
Bibi Besch was born Bibiana Maria Köchert in Vienna, Austria, in 1942. Her mother, Gusti Huber, was a theater actress. Her father, Gotfrid Köchert, was an Austrian racing driver. Bibi had an older sister named Christiana.
During World War II, Bibi, her sister, and her mother stayed in Vienna. After the war ended, they moved to the United States. In 1946, her mother married Joseph Besch, who worked in radio. He became Bibi's stepfather, and she took his last name. Bibi later had a daughter named Samantha Mathis, who also became an actress.
Acting Career Highlights
Bibi Besch started her acting career in New York. She appeared in many daytime TV soap operas. These included shows like The Secret Storm and The Edge of Night. Later, she acted in popular evening soap operas. Some of these were Dynasty, Dallas, and Falcon Crest. She even appeared in an episode of Melrose Place shortly before she passed away.
