Bickram Ghosh is a famous Indian musician. He is best known for playing the tabla, a type of drum used in Indian classical music. He is also a talented music composer and has worked on many films.

Early Life and Learning Music

Bickram Ghosh started learning to play the tabla when he was young. His first teacher was his own father, Pandit Shankar Ghosh, who was also a very respected tabla player.

Music Career and Achievements

Bickram Ghosh has performed with many legendary musicians. He has shared the stage with famous artists like Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Pandit Ravi Shankar.

Rhythmscape and Fusion Music

In 2001, Bickram Ghosh started his own band called Rhythmscape. This band plays a special kind of music called neo-fusion, which mixes different styles together. For their tenth anniversary, Rhythmscape performed in Kolkata and Mumbai with another musician named Greg Ellis. The band also released their second album, Transformation, which won the Best Fusion Album award at the Indian Recording Arts Awards in 2012.

Ghosh also performs in a group called Troikala. He plays alongside Assamese singer Papon and Scottish singer-songwriter Rachel Sermanni. He has also performed in a fusion Sufi music group called "Sufusion."

Composing for Films

Bickram Ghosh has composed music for several films. He worked with singer Sonu Nigam to create the music for the film Jal. He also composed music for the movie Little Zizou, which was produced by Mira Nair.

In October 2010, Ghosh started his own music company called Melting Pot Productions.

Awards and Recognition

On October 1, 2012, Bickram Ghosh won a big award called the Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) Award. He won in the Best Pop/Rock Single category for his song "Vande Mataram." This song featured many well-known Indian artists, including Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, and Sunidhi Chauhan.

In June 2012, Ghosh performed a special concert called "One World Fusion Extravaganza" in Hyderabad to celebrate World Music Day. He has also appeared on an episode of MTV Roots, a music show.
