Big Gibson Lake is a freshwater lake found in Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada. It is part of a larger system of waterways that eventually flows into the mighty Saint Lawrence River. The lake is located in the area known as Head, Clara and Maria.

What is Big Gibson Lake?

Big Gibson Lake is a natural lake in Eastern Ontario. It's a medium-sized lake, about 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles) long and 0.8 kilometers (0.5 miles) wide. The lake sits at an elevation of 156 meters (512 feet) above sea level.

Where is Big Gibson Lake located?

This lake is situated in the eastern part of Ontario, Canada. It's specifically within Renfrew County, which is known for its many lakes and forests. The lake is part of the beautiful Canadian Shield landscape.

How does water flow in and out of the lake?

Water flows into Big Gibson Lake mainly from a stream called Gibson Creek. This creek enters the lake from the south, bringing water from another nearby body of water, Gibson Lake. There are also a few smaller streams that feed into Big Gibson Lake.

The water leaves Big Gibson Lake through Gibson Creek as well. This creek flows out from the north side of the lake. It then travels to Holden Lake, which is connected to the Ottawa River. A smaller outflow on the northwest side also leads to Holden Lake.

Connecting to the Saint Lawrence River

The Ottawa River is a major river in Canada. It eventually joins the much larger Saint Lawrence River. This means that all the water from Big Gibson Lake, through Gibson Creek and the Ottawa River, eventually makes its way to the Saint Lawrence River. The Saint Lawrence River then flows out to the Atlantic Ocean. This connection makes Big Gibson Lake an important part of a huge drainage basin.
