Gibson Lake is a lovely lake found in the municipality of Head, Clara and Maria. This area is part of Renfrew County in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It's a natural freshwater lake that plays a small but important role in the local environment.

Where is Gibson Lake?

Gibson Lake is located in the eastern part of Ontario, a large province in Canada. It's specifically within Renfrew County. This county is known for its many lakes, rivers, and forests. The lake is quite easy to reach. Ontario Highway 17, a major road, runs along the north side of the lake. There is even a special roadside park right on the lake. This park offers a great spot for people to stop and enjoy the view.

How Water Flows from Gibson Lake

Gibson Lake is part of a much larger system called the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin. Think of a drainage basin like a giant funnel. All the rain and snow that falls in this area eventually flows into one main river. For Gibson Lake, the water flows out through a stream called Gibson Creek. This creek is the main "outflow" from the lake.

The Journey of Gibson Creek

Gibson Creek flows from the northeast side of Gibson Lake. It then travels to another nearby body of water called Big Gibson Lake. From Big Gibson Lake, the water continues its journey into the mighty Ottawa River. The Ottawa River is a very important river in Ontario and Quebec. Finally, the Ottawa River flows into the even larger Saint Lawrence River. The Saint Lawrence River is one of the biggest rivers in North America. It eventually empties into the Atlantic Ocean. So, a drop of water from Gibson Lake could travel all the way to the ocean!
