William Van Duzer Lawrence IV (born December 26, 1968) is an American television producer, screenwriter, and director. He is famous for creating and co-creating many popular TV shows. Some of his well-known series include Scrubs, Spin City, Cougar Town, Ted Lasso, and Shrinking. He also helped create the cartoon series Clone High.

In 1996, Bill Lawrence created his first TV show, Spin City. He worked with Gary David Goldberg on this show. Spin City was a comedy about the deputy mayor of New York City.
