Bill Sims Jr. (born June 23, 1949 – died February 2, 2019) was a talented American blues musician. He was known for his amazing piano skills and for playing different kinds of music throughout his life.

Early Life and Musical Journey
Bill Sims Jr. was born and grew up in Marion, Ohio, in the United States. He started playing the piano when he was very young, at just four years old! By the time he was 14, he was already playing music professionally. This means he was earning money from his music.
He joined a rhythm and blues band called the Jacksonian Blues. Later, he left this band to go to Ohio State University.
Exploring Different Music Styles
In 1971, Bill Sims Jr. joined another rhythm and blues group called the Four Mints. This band was influenced by doo-wop music, which is a style of rhythm and blues with a lot of vocal harmonies.
After leaving the Four Mints in 1976, he formed a new band called the Lamorians. This group played avant-garde jazz, which is a very experimental and creative type of jazz music. Their music was also inspired by traditional African drumming.
Returning to the Blues
In 1988, Bill Sims Jr. went back to his roots in blues music. He started his own band called Bill Sims and the Cold Blooded Blues Band.
His first album, Blues Before Sunrise, came out in 1992. Later, in 1999, a TV channel called PBS made a long documentary about Bill Sims Jr. and his family. This film showed a lot about his life and music. He released another album around the same time the documentary was shown.
Bill Sims Jr. passed away on February 2, 2019, when he was 69 years old. He left behind a legacy of wonderful music.
