Other Appearances
Billina has appeared in different movies and cartoons based on the Oz stories.
In Movies
Billina was a main character in Disney's movie Return to Oz, released in 1985. In the movie, Billina is an animatronic puppet. This means she was a robot-like figure controlled by people. Mak Wilson performed her movements, and Denise Bryer gave her voice.
Just like in the books, Billina arrives in the Land of Oz with Dorothy. She helps Dorothy on her quest to save Oz. At one point, Billina cleverly hides inside Jack Pumpkinhead's head. During the big fight against the evil Nome King, Billina lays an egg. This egg accidentally falls into the Nome King's mouth. It causes him to be defeated! When Princess Ozma is finally crowned, Billina decides to stay in the Land of Oz. She chooses to live there with her friends.
In Cartoons
Billina also appears in the cartoon series Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. In this show, she is a red hen. Her clucking sounds can be understood by Scarecrow. Billina is often seen riding inside the Tin Man's chest compartment.
