Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz is an American animated TV show for kids. It is based on the famous 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. It also takes ideas from the 1939 movie. The show first appeared on Boomerang's streaming service on June 29, 2017. It ran for three seasons and ended on July 31, 2020.

What Is the Show About?
After the Wicked Witch of the West melted, Queen Ozma made Dorothy Gale the Princess of Emerald City. Dorothy is brave, kind, and always ready for adventure. She uses her ruby slippers to help her with her royal duties.
Dorothy, with her dog Toto and friends Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion, solves problems in Oz. They face magic, Munchkins, flying monkeys, and Wilhelmina. Wilhelmina is the niece of the Wicked Witch of the West. She is training to be a wicked witch herself.
The Wizard's Return
In the second season, the Wizard of Oz returns to Oz. He got caught in another tornado. He wants to become a real wizard with actual magic powers. The Wizard finds out that the Wicked Witch's spirit is trapped in her crystal ball. He tries to bring her back to life to get powers. But his plan goes wrong. Dorothy accidentally brings the Wicked Witch back without her powers. This causes new dangers for the Land of Oz.
Meet the Characters
- Dorothy Gale (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) – Dorothy now lives in Oz and is the Princess of Emerald City. She is friendly and kind. Dorothy loves to help her friends and share customs from her home in Kansas. She also fights evil in Oz.
- Scarecrow (voiced by Bill Fagerbakke) – He has a brain now. He gives useful information to his friends during their adventures.
- Tin Man (voiced by J.P. Karliak) – He has a heart. He also carries useful items inside himself for the group.
- Cowardly Lion (voiced by Jess Harnell) – He is the king of the forest, but he is not very brave.
- Queen Ozma (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) – She is the Queen of Emerald City and Dorothy's best friend. Dorothy rescued Ozma from the Nome King. Ozma then took her rightful place as queen.
- Patchwork Girl (voiced by Jessica DiCicco) – She is a human-sized rag doll. She is Scarecrow's friend.
- Wilhelmina (voiced by Jessica DiCicco) – She is the spoiled niece of the Wicked Witch of the West. She is also the daughter of the late Wicked Witch of the East. Wilhelmina wants to get rid of Dorothy. She also wants the Ruby Slippers so she and her aunt can rule Oz. Unlike her aunt, water does not harm Wilhelmina.
- Frank and Lyman (voiced by Steve Blum and Jess Harnell) – These are Wilhelmina's winged monkey helpers. They often try to stop Dorothy and her friends. They want to get the ruby slippers for Wilhelmina. Frank is the bigger monkey, and Lyman is the smaller, clumsy one. They are named after the author of the Oz books, Lyman Frank Baum.

Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz first aired in Australia and New Zealand on June 26, 2017. In the United States, the first 13 episodes were available on Boomerang's streaming service starting June 29, 2017. The show later premiered on the Boomerang TV channel in the U.S. on May 21, 2018. It also aired in the UK and Africa in October 2017. In Canada, the series started on Treehouse TV on June 2, 2018. Later, the show also began airing on Cartoon Network on December 21, 2018.
