Steven Jay Blum (born April 29, 1960) is an American voice actor. He is famous for his deep, recognizable voice. You might know him from many popular cartoons, anime, and video games.

Some of his most well-known roles include Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, Amon from The Legend of Korra, and Heatblast, Ghostfreak, and Vilgax from Ben 10. He also voiced Garazeb Orrelios in Star Wars Rebels and Starscream in Transformers: Prime. In video games, he's been Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat and Tank Dempsey in Call of Duty Zombies. He also voiced Wolverine in many Marvel projects. Sometimes, he uses other names like David Lucas or Tom Baron for his work.

Growing Up: Steve Blum's Early Life

Steven Jay Blum was born on April 29, 1960, in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in a Jewish family. When he was a child, Steve faced challenges. He was overweight and sometimes bullied by others. To help himself feel better, he often drew pictures, sculpted things, and made music. He also loved to go outside and explore nature. He would notice all the different sounds, shapes, and colors around him.

When Steve was 12 years old, he worked at his grandfather's book store. It was in Hollywood, California. His job was to sort and organize comic books. Steve was a huge fan of cartoons. He loved to do impressions of cartoon characters. He even started doing impressions for people after leaving a funny voicemail using the voice of Goofy!

Becoming a Voice Actor: Steve Blum's Career

Steve Blum began his career working in the mail room at a film studio. The person in charge of the mail room noticed his deep voice. They offered him a job on an animation project from Japan. Steve eventually became the head of marketing at a studio. But he kept doing voice acting on the side. Later, he decided to become a full-time voice actor.

In September 2000, Steve became the voice of TOM. TOM is the robot host of Cartoon Network's Toonami block. He returned as TOM when Toonami came back in 2012. He is also the announcer for 7-Eleven's "Oh Thank Heaven" ads.

On June 5, 2012, Steve Blum earned a special award. He received a Guinness World Record. This award was for being the most active video game voice actor. At that time, he had been in 261 different video games!

Steve Blum's Life Outside Work

Steve Blum married fellow voice actress Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in 2017. He has three sons from an earlier relationship. One of his sons, Brandon, is also an actor. Another son, Jeremy, works as a teacher. When he's not working, Steve enjoys collecting different animals. He likes to collect reptiles, fish, and birds.
