Star Wars Rebels is an exciting 3D animated science fiction television series set in the amazing Star Wars universe. It was made by Lucasfilm Animation. The story happens about 15 years after the movie Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and leads up to the very first Star Wars film from 1977.
In the show, the powerful Galactic Empire is trying to find and stop the last of the Jedi Knights. At the same time, a small group of brave people start to form a rebellion against the Empire. The show's look and feel are inspired by the early drawings for the original Star Wars movies by Ralph McQuarrie.
Star Wars Rebels introduces new characters, but you'll also see some familiar faces from the original movies and from the earlier animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series has four seasons in total.
The show first aired as a special one-hour TV movie called Spark of Rebellion on October 3, 2014, on Disney Channel. The regular series then started on October 13 on Disney XD. Each new season also began with a special TV movie. The final episode aired on March 5, 2018.
The show was very popular and won several awards. It was even nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Children's Program.

Historical Influences
The creators of Star Wars Rebels often used names from history and myths for their characters. For example, Jedi characters often have names with Hebrew or Biblical roots, like Caleb and Ezra. Ezra means "helper." Imperial characters often have Roman names, such as Admiral Brom Titus and Admiral Kassius Konstantine. This was done to connect the show's naming style to the original Star Wars movies.
