William Best Evans (born September 13, 1932 – died November 22, 2020), known as Billy Evans, was an American basketball player. He was born in Berea, Kentucky. Billy Evans is famous for winning a gold medal with the United States basketball team at the 1956 Summer Olympics.

Early Life and College Basketball
Billy Evans grew up in Berea, Kentucky. He played basketball at Berea High School. After high school, he went on to play college basketball at the University of Kentucky. He played for the University of Kentucky from 1951 to 1955.
Olympic and Pan American Games Success
Billy Evans was a key player on the United States men's national basketball team. In 1956, he traveled to Melbourne, Australia, for the 1956 Summer Olympics. His team played incredibly well and won the gold medal in basketball. This was a huge achievement for him and his country.
A few years later, in 1959, Billy Evans also competed in the Pan American Games in Chicago. Again, his team showed great skill and won another gold medal in basketball. These two gold medals show how talented and successful he was as a basketball player on the international stage.
