The Birch River is a small river located in the state of Maine, in the United States. It flows through a northern part of Maine known as Aroostook County. This river is about 5.1 miles (8.2 kilometers) long.
What is the Birch River?
The Birch River is a natural waterway. It starts where two smaller rivers, the North Branch Birch River and the South Branch Birch River, meet. This meeting point is in the southwest part of a town called Eagle Lake.
Where Does the Birch River Flow?
From where its two branches join, the Birch River flows towards the southeast. It ends its journey by flowing into a larger body of water called St. Froid Lake. This lake is located in a small community known as Winterville Plantation.
What Happens After St. Froid Lake?
St. Froid Lake is not the end of the water's journey. The water from St. Froid Lake then flows into the Fish River. The Fish River is a tributary, which means it's a smaller river that flows into a much larger one. In this case, the Fish River flows into the mighty Saint John River.
