Biron is a small village located in Wood County, Wisconsin, United States. In 2010, about 839 people lived there. Biron is known for being the home of the ND Paper's Biron Mill, which is a large paper factory.

Exploring Biron's Past
How Biron Started
The first settlement in Biron began in 1839. It was a sawmill, which is a factory that cuts logs into lumber. A man named Francis X. Biron bought this mill in 1846. He was from Quebec, a province in Canada.
Becoming a Village
Over time, more people came to live near the mill. The area was officially planned out as a community in 1896. Then, in 1910, Biron officially became a village.

The Nash Family Cottage
A special cottage in Biron, right by the Wisconsin River, was a summer getaway for two important people. These were Philleo Nash and Edith Nash.
Philleo Nash was an advisor to presidents. Edith Nash was a poet and an educator. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin during the rest of the year. Philleo passed away in 1987, and Edith in 2003.
