Björn Nils Olof Skifs is a famous Swedish singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He was born on April 20, 1947. Björn Skifs is well-known for his music and for representing Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest two times.

Björn Skifs: A Swedish Music Star

Björn Skifs started his first music group, Slam Creepers, in 1962. This band played together until 1969. After Slam Creepers, Björn formed a new band called Blåblus in 1972.

Blue Swede and a Big Hit

Blåblus later became known as Blue Swede to audiences outside Sweden. As the lead singer of Blue Swede, Björn had a huge hit song in 1974. It was a cover of "Hooked on a Feeling" by Mark James. This song became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

After Blue Swede, Björn Skifs started his solo music career. He recorded a duet called Med varann with Anni-Frid Lyngstad (from ABBA) for his 1975 album Schiffz!.

Music for Chess and Other Songs

Björn Skifs also worked on the original studio album for the musical Chess, which came out in 1984. He sang the part of The Arbiter. A single and music video for his song, The Arbiter (I Know the Score), was released in 1985. He also recorded demo versions of other songs for the album, including "One Night in Bangkok".

In 2002, Björn had another big hit song in Sweden called "Håll mitt hjärta" (which means "Hold My Heart"). This song stayed on the Swedish music chart, Svensktoppen, for a very long time – 142 weeks!

Eurovision and Live Performances

Björn Skifs represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest twice. He competed in the 1978 contest and again in the 1981 contest. In 2000, he was one of the hosts for Melodifestivalen, which is the Swedish competition to choose their Eurovision entry.

In April 2020, Björn Skifs performed "Håll Mitt Hjärta" at a special live show in Sweden. This show was broadcast on SVT and helped raise money for people at risk during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Björn Skifs was also the opening act for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 on May 11, 2024. He performed his famous song "Hooked on a Feeling" for the audience.
