A Glimpse into History
The community of Blachly got its name from an early resident, William Blachly. He moved to Oregon in 1854 when he was just 10 years old, coming all the way from Illinois. The Blachly post office, which handles mail for the area, was officially opened in 1892. Before that, people in the area got their mail from a different post office called Franklin, which is now closed. William Blachly lived a long life and passed away in 1934.
