The black-throated thistletail (Asthenes harterti) is a small bird that belongs to the family Furnariidae. This bird is special because it is found only in Bolivia, a country in South America.
About the Black-throated Thistletail
This bird lives in specific types of places. You can find it in warm, wet mountain forests or in high-up grasslands in tropical areas. These are its natural habitats.
Subspecies
A subspecies is like a slightly different version of an animal within the same species. These differences might be in their looks or where they live. The black-throated thistletail has two known subspecies:
- A. h. harterti - This subspecies was first described by Hans von Berlepsch in 1901. It lives in the northern parts of Bolivia.
- A. h. bejaranoi - This one was described by James Van Remsen, Jr. in 1981. It is found in central Bolivia.
