The Black Diamond Apple is a very special and rare type of apple. It comes from the family of Huaniu apples. These unique apples are grown in the Tibetan region of Nyingchi, in China.
Even though it's called "Black Diamond," the apple is actually a deep purple color. Inside, it has crisp, white flesh. Its amazing dark color comes from growing in a very high place, over 3,500 meters (about 11,500 feet) above sea level. Up there, the temperature changes a lot between day and night. This means the apples get a lot of strong ultraviolet light from the sun, which helps them develop their dark skin.

Why Black Diamond Apples Are Special
Where They Grow
Black Diamond apples are grown in the mountains of Nyingchi. This area is part of the Tibetan region. The high altitude and unique weather conditions are perfect for these apples. They need the strong sunlight and big temperature changes to get their famous dark color.
A Rare and Pricey Fruit
These apples are considered a luxury fruit. You usually find them in fancy supermarkets. One Black Diamond Apple can cost about 50 yuan, which is around 7.75 US dollars. This makes them much more expensive than regular apples.
Challenges for Farmers
It's hard for farmers to grow Black Diamond apples. The trees take a very long time to grow up, sometimes up to eight years before they can produce fruit. Also, the time when the apples can grow and ripen is quite short, only about two months each year. Because of these difficulties, not many farmers choose to grow them.
Nutritional Value
Even though they are rare and expensive, Black Diamond apples probably have similar health benefits to other types of apples. They are a good source of vitamins and fiber, just like most other apples you might eat. Their main difference is their unique look and where they come from.
