Black Earth is a small village located in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. In 2020, about 1,493 people lived there. It's part of the larger Madison area. The village is found within the Town of Black Earth.

History of Black Earth
Black Earth has an interesting past!
- In 1851, the local leaders tried to change the town's name to Farmersville.
- But by 1857, everyone decided to go back to the original name, Black Earth.
- In June 1984, a strong storm called the Barneveld Tornado hit parts of the village. It caused damage to several buildings.
