Blake Green (born 18 September 1986) is a former professional rugby league player from Australia. He played as a five-eighth (five-eighth) and halfback (halfback). His career spanned the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.

Blake Green was known for playing with many different teams during his career. He played for nine clubs in total. These included teams in Australia's National Rugby League (NRL) and England's Super League. He is one of only three players to have played for seven different NRL clubs.

In 2013, while playing for the Wigan Warriors, Blake Green won the Harry Sunderland Trophy. This award is given to the best player in the 2013 Super League Grand Final.

Blake Green was born in Fairfield, New South Wales, Australia. He started playing junior rugby league for the Cabramatta Two Blues and Hills District Bulls.

He went to Westfields Sports High School from 1999 to 2004. In 2004, he was the captain of the Australia national schoolboys rugby league team.

Blake Green's Playing Career

Blake Green began his professional rugby league journey in 2007. He made his first appearance in the NRL with the Parramatta Eels.

Early NRL Teams

After playing for the Eels, he joined the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks for two years.

In 2010, he moved to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. This was a strong season for him, as he played 18 games in the halfback positions.

Playing in England

In October 2010, Blake Green signed a two-year contract with Hull Kingston Rovers in England. He started playing for them in the 2011 Super League season. He teamed up with his former teammate Michael Dobson to form a new partnership.

In 2013, he helped the Wigan Warriors win the 2013 Challenge Cup Final. They beat Hull F.C. at Wembley Stadium.

Later that year, on 5 October 2013, Blake Green played in the 2013 Super League Grand Final. He helped the Wigan Warriors come back from being behind to win 30–16 against the Warrington Wolves. He scored an important try that put Wigan ahead. He also played very well despite getting injured during the game.

On 10 June 2014, Blake Green announced he would leave the Wigan Warriors. He played in the 2014 Super League Grand Final that year, but his team lost to St. Helens.

Return to the NRL

After his time in England, Blake Green returned to Australia. He signed with the Melbourne Storm in 2015. In the 2016 NRL season, he played almost every game. His team, the Melbourne Storm, finished first in the regular season.

Blake Green played in the 2016 NRL Grand Final for Melbourne. However, they lost a close game to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

He then signed a two-year deal with the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. He played alongside Daly Cherry-Evans in the halfback positions.

On 20 November 2017, Blake Green left Manly early to join the New Zealand Warriors. He signed a three-year contract with them.

On 4 August 2020, Blake Green moved to the Newcastle Knights during the season. By joining Newcastle, he became one of only three players to play for seven different NRL clubs. He played his first game for the Knights in round 13, where they won 44-4. Sadly, in his third game for the Knights, he injured his knee, which ended his season.

Blake Green signed with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs for the 2021 season. However, he was later released from that contract. He then returned to the Newcastle Knights for a one-year deal in 2021.

He played a few more games for Newcastle in the 2021 NRL season. After these games, he announced his retirement from rugby league.

On 11 June 2021, Blake Green was chosen to be the head coach for the new NRLW team for the Newcastle Knights. This team was one of three new clubs joining the 2021 NRLW Premiership. However, he later took on a role with the Knights' main NRL team instead.
