Blakely is a small town, called a borough, in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It's part of a larger area known as Northeastern Pennsylvania. In 2020, about 6,657 people lived there.
The Lackawanna River flows right through Blakely. Inside the borough, you'll also find the village of Peckville.

History of Blakely
Blakely Township was created in 1818. It was named after Johnston Blakely, a brave naval hero from the War of 1812. He was famous for leading his ship, the Wasp, to victory in a battle in 1814.
The Borough of Blakely was officially formed on August 27, 1867. It was also named after Captain Johnston Blakely, who was one of the most successful naval officers of his time. Today, there's a special memorial in Blakely called the "Johnston Blakeley Memorial." It features a large anchor from an aircraft carrier that was also named Wasp.
In the 1970s, a company called Masterpiece Inc. was located in Blakely. It was one of the biggest makers of artificial Christmas trees!
