Bloodland, Missouri facts for kids

Bloodland was once a small community located in Pulaski County, Missouri, in the United States. Today, it no longer exists as a town. It is now part of a large military base called Ft. Leonard Wood.

What Was Bloodland?

Bloodland was situated in the southern part of Pulaski County, Missouri. It was located about 3.5 miles west-northwest of a place called Big Piney. It was also about 4.5 miles north of another community named Palace. The town was named after Mr. Blood, who originally owned the land where the community was built.

Life in Bloodland

Even though it was a small place, Bloodland had its own post office. This post office opened in 1898. It served the community for many years, helping people send and receive mail. The post office closed in 1941, which was around the time the town disappeared.

Why Did Bloodland Disappear?

Bloodland was a community that had to make way for something new. The town was removed to make space for the construction of Ft. Leonard Wood. This military base was built to train soldiers. When the base was created, the land where Bloodland stood was needed. Because of this, the community of Bloodland no longer exists.
