The very first Blue Chip Cookies store opened in March 1983. It was located on Beach Street in Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, California.
Growing the Business
In 1986, the company started letting other people open Blue Chip Cookies stores. This is called "franchising." They chose certain areas to do this.
In 1987, Blue Chip Cookies helped create National Cookie Day. This special day is celebrated every year on December 4.
Moving to Ohio
In 1986, a Blue Chip Cookies store opened in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cincinnati was trying to promote itself as "Blue Chip City" at the time.
Later, in 1998, a company from Edgewood, Kentucky, called B.C.C. Enterprises, bought Blue Chip Cookies. This was interesting because B.C.C. Enterprises had started as a franchisee, meaning they owned a Blue Chip Cookies store themselves. They grew so much that they were able to buy the whole company!
In November 2005, a private company from Loveland, Ohio, bought Blue Chip Cookies. They opened a new store in Loveland in June 2006. In January 2007, Blue Chip Cookie Company, Inc. started allowing new franchises and licenses again.

In 2007, Blue Chip Cookies started to focus on selling cookies online. They also began offering cookies as gifts for businesses. They opened an online store for this.
