History of Blue State Coffee Shops
Blue State Coffee started with a website in September 2006. The company is led by its CEO, Carolyn Greenspan.
First Stores Open
The very first Blue State Coffee shop opened in July 2007. It was on Thayer Street in Providence, close to Brown University.
In February 2009, two more stores opened. One was inside the Brown University Bookstore. The other opened in New Haven, near Yale University.
Growing the Chain
Blue State Coffee continued to grow. In May 2010, a fourth store opened in New Haven. It was also close to Yale University.
A fifth store opened in September 2010. This one was in Boston, Massachusetts. However, it closed down in 2020.
In September 2012, the sixth store opened. It was in New Haven, near the Yale New Haven Hospital.
By the summer of 2020, Blue State Coffee had seven cafes in total. There were two in Providence, four in New Haven, and one in Hartford.
