Armenter Chatmon (born in March 1893 or January 1894 – died September 21, 1964) was an early American blues musician. He was better known by his stage name, Bo Carter. He was a member of a group called the Mississippi Sheiks. He also helped manage this group.

Bo Carter's Music Career
In 1928, Bo Carter recorded the first version of a song called "Corrine, Corrina". This song later became very popular. It is now a well-known song in many different types of music.
Early Life and Family Music
Bo Carter and his brothers learned music from their father, Henderson Chatmon. Their father was a fiddle player. They grew up on a farm between Bolton and Edwards, Mississippi. Their mother, Eliza, also sang and played the guitar. Bo's brothers, Lonnie Chatmon and Sam Chatmon, were also musicians. His brother Harry Chatmon was a pianist.
Becoming a Recording Artist
Bo Carter started recording music in 1928. At first, he played backup for another musician named Alec Johnson. Soon after, he began recording his own songs. He became one of the most important blues musicians in the 1930s. He recorded 110 songs during this time.
He also played with and managed his family's group, the Mississippi Sheiks. They often performed for different groups of people. For white audiences, they played popular songs and dance music. For black audiences, they played more blues songs.
Later Life
During the 1930s, Bo Carter started to lose some of his eyesight. He moved to Glen Allan, Mississippi. Even with his vision problems, he continued to farm and play music. Sometimes, he performed with his brothers. In the 1940s, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee. He stopped working in the music industry and took other jobs.
Bo Carter passed away on September 21, 1964, in Memphis. He is buried in Nitta Yuma Cemetery in Sharkey County, Mississippi.

Influence on Other Musicians
Bo Carter's unique guitar playing and songwriting style have continued to inspire musicians. Even many years after his death, he still has many fans. For example, the Irish blues rock guitarist Rory Gallagher played several of Bo Carter's songs. One of these was "All Around Man."
Bo Carter was not related to Sam T. (Bo) Carter, who worked in sports.
