The Boana riojana is a type of frog. It belongs to the Hylidae family, which is a group of tree frogs.
You can find this frog in the eastern Andes mountains and the areas near them. It lives from La Rioja Province in Argentina all the way to northern Bolivia. It might even live in nearby parts of Peru.
Sometimes, this frog is called Carrizo's tree frog. This name was used for a frog that was once thought to be a separate species, called Boana varelae.
Where it Lives
The Boana riojana lives at different heights depending on where it is found. In the northern parts of its home, it lives very high up. This can be from 1,650–3,400 m (5,410–11,150 ft) (about 5,400 to 11,150 feet) above sea level.
In the southern parts, it lives at lower heights. This is usually from 500–1,640 m (1,640–5,380 ft) (about 1,640 to 5,380 feet) above sea level.
Scientists are still learning a lot about what this frog needs to survive in its environment.
