Bob Egerton, whose full name is Robert Henry Egerton, was born on March 6, 1963. He is a former Australian rugby union player. He played for the Wallabies, which is Australia's national rugby team, nine times in 1991. His last game was the 1991 Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham. In that match, Australia won 12–6 against England. This game marked the end of his short but successful international career.

Early Life and Rugby Beginnings

Bob Egerton was born in Lae, New Guinea. He spent a year in California, USA, playing high school football. After that, he moved back to Canberra, Australia. He attended Marist College Canberra. Later, he studied Agricultural Science at Sydney University.

While at Sydney University in the 1980s, Egerton played rugby for the university's top team. He played in different positions, including fullback, wing, and five-eighth. He also studied at Oxford University in England. He played for the Oxford University RFC team in the famous The Varsity Match in both 1987 and 1988.

Playing for Australia: The Wallabies

In 1991, Bob Egerton had a very fast rise in his rugby career. He first played for the New South Wales team. Soon after, he was chosen to play for the Wallabies. This was a special year for the Wallabies because they had an unbeaten season.

Egerton played on the opposite wing to David Campese, who was a very famous player. Campese was even named the best player of the tournament at the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Egerton's time with the Wallabies was short but very memorable, ending with a World Cup victory.

Life After Professional Rugby

After the 1991 Rugby World Cup, Bob Egerton got injured while playing rugby in the USA. Later, he became a teacher and a coach. He taught Biology at The King's School, Parramatta. There, he coached their main rugby team to win four championships.

In 2010, he became the Team Manager for the Wallabies. Since 2014, Egerton has been a science teacher at Newington College. He also coached their top rugby team, helping them win a championship in 2015.
