Bobs Lake is a lake located in Ontario, Canada. It is found in the Cochrane District in northeastern Ontario. This lake is part of a large water system that eventually flows into James Bay.

About Bobs Lake

Bobs Lake is a medium-sized lake. It is about 1.7 kilometres (1.1 mi) long. The lake is also about 0.8 kilometres (0.5 mi) wide. This makes it a nice size for exploring.

Where is Bobs Lake Located?

The lake sits at an elevation of 287 metres (942 ft) above sea level. It is located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northeast of a community called Monteith. You can find Monteith near Ontario Highway 11. Bobs Lake is also very close to the Abitibi River, only about 800 metres (2,625 ft) south of it.

How Water Flows Out of Bobs Lake

Water from Bobs Lake flows out through a stream called Bobs Creek. This creek is located at the southeast side of the lake. Bobs Creek then joins the Shallow River. The Shallow River flows into the Black River. Finally, the Black River empties into the Abitibi River. This whole system helps water travel from the lake to larger rivers.

Another Bobs Lake?

It can be a bit confusing, but there is another lake in the Cochrane District also called Bobs Lake. This other lake is spelled with an apostrophe: Bob's Lake (Timmins). It also has a creek named Bob's Creek flowing out of it. This second lake is about 63 kilometres (39 mi) to the southwest of the Bobs Lake we are talking about here. Both lakes are part of the Abitibi River drainage basin.
