History of Bode

Bode began its story in 1881. This happened when the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway built its train tracks through this area. The railway helped the town grow and connect with other places.

Before this, Twin Rivers shared grades with the Gilmore City–Bradgate Community School District. During that time, Bode was home to Twin River Valley High School. Its sports teams were called the 'Thunder'. This high school served students from both the Twin Rivers and Gilmore City–Bradgate districts. The school's sports teams were usually in smaller classes because of the school's size.
