Bogdan Ionuț Lobonț (born January 18, 1978) is a Romanian football coach and former player. He was a goalkeeper and is now a technical director at Liga III club CSM Olimpia Satu Mare.
He played 86 games for the Romania national team from 1998 to 2018. He also played in two European Championships. In Romania, people called him Pisica, which means "The Cat". This nickname came from his quick moves and smaller size for a goalkeeper.

Playing for Corvinul Hunedoara
Bogdan Lobonț was born in Hunedoara, Romania. He began playing football at age 12 for his local club, Corvinul. He started playing for the senior team in 1995. His first game was a 1–1 draw against Suceava.
Time at Rapid București
In 1997, a scout named Rică Răducanu saw Bogdan's talent. He suggested Bogdan to Rapid București's manager, Mircea Lucescu. Bogdan played his first top-league game on August 2, 1997. He helped his team keep a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw.
At Rapid, he won his first trophy, the 1997–98 Cupa României, in 1998. He also helped Rapid win the league title in the 1998–99 season. In 1999, he moved to Ajax for $3 million.
Adventures with Ajax Amsterdam and Dinamo București
Bogdan joined Ajax in the Netherlands. He made his debut in November 2000. During his time at Ajax, he was loaned to Dinamo București for the 2001–02 season. There, he helped Dinamo win the league title. He was the main goalkeeper for the team.
When he returned to Ajax, he became their first-choice goalkeeper. He played in the Champions League and helped Ajax reach the quarter-finals. In the 2003–04 season, he helped Ajax win another league title. Bogdan also played alongside famous players like Cristian Chivu and Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Moving to Fiorentina
In January 2006, Bogdan moved to Fiorentina in Italy. He played regularly for the team until the end of that season. He played alongside his Romanian teammate Adrian Mutu.
Returning to Dinamo București

In January 2007, Bogdan made a surprising return to Dinamo București. He helped them win the league title in the 2006–07 season. He also showed great skill by saving a penalty kick in a Champions League qualifier. For his excellent play in 2007, he was ranked second for the Romanian Footballer of the Year award.
Years at Roma
On August 31, 2009, Bogdan joined Roma in Italy. He made his first appearance for Roma in October. He also played in the Europa League.
He continued to play for Roma in the Champions League. In the 2012–13 Coppa Italia season, he played in the final of the Italian Cup. Bogdan signed new contracts with Roma, making it the last club of his playing career. He stayed with the team until 2018.
International Career
Bogdan Lobonț played 86 matches for the Romania national team. He made his debut in September 1998. He helped Romania qualify for the Euro 2000 tournament.
He also played in the qualifiers for the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. Bogdan became a very important player for Romania. He played in the qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup and the successful Euro 2008 qualifiers. In 2008, he played in all three group matches at the Euro 2008 final tournament.
After playing in more qualifiers, he retired from the national team. However, he came back for one final game in June 2018. He played a few minutes in a friendly match against Finland. In 2008, the president of Romania gave him a special medal for his achievements.
Managerial Career
After retiring as a player, Bogdan Lobonț started coaching.
- Universitatea Cluj: In January 2019, he became a coach for Universitatea Cluj.
- Romania National Team (Assistant): He then worked as an assistant coach for the Romania national team.
- Roma (Scout): He also worked as a scout for Roma.
- Romania U20: From 2021 to 2022, he coached Romania's under-20 team in friendly matches.
- Rapid București: In August 2023, he became the goalkeeper coach for Rapid București. He also briefly served as a caretaker coach for the team.
