Bojan Djordjic (born 6 February 1982) is a Swedish former professional footballer. He played as a winger, which is a player who plays on the sides of the field.
Bojan started his football journey with IF Brommapojkarna in the late 1990s. He then joined famous clubs like Manchester United and AIK. With AIK, he helped his team win the 2009 Allsvenskan league and the 2009 Svenska Cupen (Swedish Cup). He played for teams in many different countries, including Sweden, England, Denmark, Serbia, Scotland, Hungary, and Belgium. He finished his playing career with Chennaiyin in India in 2015.
Even though Bojan was born in what was then Yugoslavia, he played for Sweden's youth national teams. Between 1998 and 2003, he represented Sweden's Under-17, Under-19, and Under-21 teams. He played a total of 44 games for these youth teams and scored three goals.
Club Career Highlights
Early Days and Manchester United
Bojan Djordjic was born in Belgrade, in what was then SFR Yugoslavia. His father, Ranko Đorđić, was also a professional footballer. Bojan began his career at IF Brommapojkarna. In 1999, he moved to Manchester United as a young player.
He was seen as a very promising talent. At 18, he won the club's Jimmy Murphy Player of the Year Award. However, he only played in two official games for the main team. He did score a cool goal against Celtic in a friendly match in 2001.
Bojan was also loaned out to other clubs to gain experience. These clubs included Sheffield Wednesday, Aarhus GF, and Red Star Belgrade. At Red Star Belgrade, he scored his first goal in a senior game during a European competition in 2003.
Playing for Rangers
In January 2005, Bojan joined Rangers, a big club in Scotland. He joined them for free. His first full game for Rangers was against Celtic in the Scottish Cup. However, he faced some injuries that made it hard for him to play regularly for the first team.
Time at Plymouth Argyle
After leaving Rangers, Bojan moved to Plymouth Argyle in England at the end of the 2004–05 season. He had played four league games during Rangers' season when they won the league title. Another club that was interested in him was AIK from Stockholm, which is a club Bojan supports.
In August 2006, after being at Plymouth for over a year, Bojan was put on the transfer list. This meant the club was willing to sell him. His manager, Ian Holloway, felt that Bojan sometimes needed to improve his focus during games and training. He was told he could get back into the main team if his attitude improved.
Bojan worked hard and scored eight goals in five games for the reserve team. After three months, he returned to the starting lineup in November 2006. He scored a goal in his first game back. Because of his improved performance, he was taken off the transfer list and scored in his next two games as well.
Success with AIK
In October 2007, Bojan's contract with Plymouth Argyle ended. In November, it was announced that he had signed a two-year deal with the Swedish club AIK. His first season there was tough because of several injuries. He missed the last eight games of the 2008 season due to injury. His first game for AIK was in March 2008.
During the 2009 transfer period, another club, Maccabi Haifa, offered him a contract. However, Bojan chose to stay with AIK, calling it "the club in his heart." In the 2009 season, he scored 1 goal and made 6 assists. He helped AIK win the 2009 Allsvenskan league title.
At the start of the 2010 season, AIK was not playing as well as they had when they were champions. The team was struggling.
Moving to Videoton
In June 2010, news came out that the Hungarian club Videoton had bought both Bojan and another player, Martin Mutumba. The director of the Hungarian club spoke highly of Bojan. One year later, Bojan ended his contract with Videoton.
Brief Stays in England and Belgium
Bojan joined Blackpool in England in June 2011. He signed a two-year contract, which meant he was working again with his former manager, Ian Holloway. Bojan said he felt Holloway was one of the few managers who helped him play his best. He left Blackpool in January 2012.
In February 2012, he signed a short-term contract with Royal Antwerp, a club in the Belgian Second Division.
Back to Sweden
In June 2012, Bojan returned to his first club, Brommapojkarna. In January 2014, he signed with Vasalunds IF, another Swedish club.
Final Club: Chennaiyin
On 21 August 2014, Bojan was chosen in the first-ever draft for the Indian Super League. He signed with Chennaiyin. Bojan was the team captain during his time at the club. He finished his professional playing career there in 2015.
International Play
Bojan was part of the Sweden squad that played in the 1999 UEFA European Under-16 Championship. He played 9 games for the Sweden U21 team.

Football Pundit
Viaplay
Since the mid-2010s, Bojan Djordjic has been working as a football pundit for Viaplay sports channels in Sweden. A pundit is someone who gives their opinions and analysis about sports on TV.
In March 2023, Bojan had a strong discussion during a post-match interview with the Sweden national team head coach, Janne Andersson. This happened after Sweden won a game against Azerbaijan. Bojan asked about a player who hadn't played much, and the coach became upset. The coach later apologized for his reaction. Bojan's employer, Viaplay, supported him, and Bojan said he was willing to forgive the coach but would not forget the incident.
MUTV
As of 2021, Bojan Djordjic also works as a pundit for Manchester United's television station, MUTV.
