Bolar is a small, quiet place in the United States. It's not a city or a town with its own government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that are part of a larger county, not a separate town. Bolar is special because it sits right on the border of two counties in Virginia: Bath County and Highland County.
Where is Bolar Located?
Bolar is nestled in the beautiful state of Virginia. It's found in the western part of the state, surrounded by nature. If you were to travel from Monterey, Virginia, Bolar is about 14.5 miles (23.3 kilometers) to the southwest. It's also about 13.4 miles (21.6 kilometers) northeast of Warm Springs, Virginia.
How Bolar is Situated
The community of Bolar is located along a small stream called Bolar Run. It's also found on a road known as Big Valley Road. This road is interesting because it generally follows the line between Bath County and Highland County right through the community itself. This means parts of Bolar are in one county, and other parts are in the other!
