Boniface Ferrer (born 1350, died 1417) was a special kind of monk called a Carthusian. He was also the brother of Saint Vincent Ferrer, a very famous preacher. Boniface is best known for translating the first Bible into the Valencian language. This important Bible translation was completed in 1488.
His translation was a big deal because it was the first time the Bible had been translated into a Romance language (like Catalan) in a long time. The last major translation like this was by Peter Waldo into a language called Provençal.

Who Was Boniface Ferrer?
Boniface Ferrer lived in the 1300s and early 1400s. He chose to live a religious life as a Carthusian monk. Carthusian monks live in quiet monasteries and spend their lives in prayer and study.

Boniface Ferrer's biggest achievement was translating the Bible. He worked to make the Bible available in the Valencian language. This meant more people could read and understand the holy book in their own language.

A Role in Choosing a New King

At Caspe, Boniface and Vincent met with leaders from the Kingdom of Aragon and the Principality of Catalonia. They all worked together to decide who would be the next king. Both Boniface and Vincent voted for Ferdinand of Castile. On June 28, Ferdinand was announced as the new King of Aragon.
