Boonooroo is a small coastal town in Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Fraser Coast Region. In 2016, about 322 people lived in Boonooroo. The town is known for its beautiful coastal views.
What Boonooroo Means
The name Boonooroo comes from an Aboriginal word. It means the brigalow tree. A brigalow tree is a type of Acacia tree. Its scientific name is Acacia harpophylla.
Boonooroo's School History
Boonooroo had a school that opened in 1911. It was called Boonooroo State School. The school closed down in May 1931.
Later, on September 30, 1946, the school reopened. It was first known as Boonooroo Provisional School. In 1960, it became Boonooroo State School again. However, it closed permanently in 1961.
