Booraan's Role in World War II

During World War II, Booraan played a part in Australia's defense efforts. In 1942, a special military site was set up there. This site was called the No. 9 Advanced Ammunition sub-depot.

What was the Ammunition Depot?

The No. 9 Advanced Ammunition sub-depot was a place where ammunition was stored. It was managed by a group of soldiers known as the 16 Ordnance Ammunition Section. Their job was to safely handle and store military supplies. This depot was an important part of supporting the troops during the war. It helped ensure that ammunition was available when and where it was needed. The depot operated for a few years and was closed down in 1945, after the war ended.
