Bornholm is a small community in the Great Southern part of Western Australia. It is located between the towns of Albany and Denmark. You can find it along the Lower Denmark Road.

What is Bornholm Like?

Bornholm is a quiet area known for its farms. These farms are usually between 30 and 100 acres in size. Farmers here grow different things like fruits and vegetables. They also raise animals. This type of farming is called mixed farming.

The town grew up around a railway line. This railway connected Albany and Denmark. The area was already settled by people before the year 1912.

A Look at Bornholm's Past

An important building in Bornholm is the Bornholm Hall. This hall was officially opened in 1923. A person named John Scaddan opened it. He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Albany. An MLA is like a local representative who helps make laws for the state.

Bornholm and Nature

In 2010, Bornholm faced a challenge from nature. A bushfire started near the beach. It burned about 12 hectares (which is about 30 acres) of bushland. This fire caused parts of the Bibbulmun Track to close. The Bibbulmun Track is a long walking trail. Luckily, firefighters were able to put out the fire the next day.
