History and Landmarks
Borutta has an interesting history. Near the town, there is a volcanic hill. This hill was once home to an old village called Sorres. Sadly, the village of Sorres was destroyed a long time ago, in the early 1300s. This happened during a conflict with the Kingdom of Aragon, a powerful kingdom from what is now Spain.
Today, on that same volcanic hill, you can find a very old and beautiful church. It is called the San Pietro di Sorres church. This church was built in a special style called Pisan-Romanesque. This style was popular in Italy many centuries ago. The church is a great example of old architecture and is an important landmark in the area.
Who Leads Borutta?
Like all towns, Borutta has a leader. This leader is called the mayor. The mayor helps manage the town and make decisions for its people. As of now, the mayor of Borutta is Silvano Quirico Salvatore Arru.
